a pleasantly surprising day

mood:

we had our pre-cana and faith catechesis seminars at st. james today.

schmuck and i were preparing ourselves for a WHOLE day of boredom. in the car, on the way to the church, we even devised a plan to look out for each other in case one of us finds the other sleeping or (gasp!)...snoring! without mincing words, i told schmuck that religion bores me. no offense, but it does. i'm catholic and all, but listening to someone talk about it? believe me, it sends me to dreamland. hee!

mang bert of st. james told us to be there by 830am, but as usual, my dear husband to be was late. again. he was also late in picking me up during our canonical, remember? but today was worse. he told me to wake him up at 630am, so that he can be at our house by 730am, and we could leave by 8am. sounded like a good plan to me. so i did wake him up at 630am, and started to prepare as well. at 745am, he hasn't arrived yet, but i figured he was on his way. then my dear husband to be calls me a little before 8am to tell me that his 5 minute snooze turned into an hour. gardemit! so i had to let my mom drive me to their house instead so we could save time while he took a bath and all. haaayyy...

so anyhoo, we got to st. james before 9am, and being such a stickler for time, i was worried that we were late. as it turns out, the seminar really starts at 9am. we were also the 5th couple to arrive, and they were expecting a total of 16 couples. haha!

i suprised myself today though, because i thoroughly enjoyed BOTH the pre-cana and the faith catechesis! for the pre-cana, mr. tony was a funny old man who thinks his jokes are hilarious. believe me, they are not. ok, maybe a little amusing at times, but he was enjoying his jokes tremendously! i was laughing cause he was laughing. heehee! but he taught us some pretty useful stuff, and schmuck and i did learn a thing or two (or more) from him. on the other hand, the faith catechesis was done by bro. lambert. now he was truly funny! he's pretty young so his stories and anecdotes were things we could all relate to. he even had an exercise where he made each of us write the apostle's creed in 5 minutes. nya! schmuck and i went only as far as half way. i was worried there that they wouldn't allow us to marry because we pretty much failed the exercise. hahahaha! but again, it was a learning experience for both of us. and it was a DRASTIC improvement from our canonical, don't you think?

ok, wed preps update time...

  • church seminars - all complete! yey!!!
  • missalette - for approval! we already gave ours to mang bert for approval by the parish priest. we should be able to get it by wednesday.
  • other church requirements - the only thing we need to submit are our marriage banns and the permission to marry from my parish. tomorrow is the 3rd sunday already, so we can get our banns (and my permission to marry) within the week and submit it to st. james by this weekend.
  • marriage license - will apply on monday! schmuck and i both took leaves from work this monday so we can already apply for our marriage license. we have all the necessary documents already except for the cedula, but we can get that on monday as well at the municipal hall.
  • preps venue - check! my dear sis-in-law-to-be missy has a friend who's working in vivere suites, and we are booked on april 29 till may 1. wahooooo! plus, we get a discount pa!
  • invites - for pick up tomorrow! the initial date given to us by qp to pick up our invites was feb 22. i was pleasantly surprised to receive a text message from them last feb 18, saying that our invites were ready na. wow, that was quick! i'm already so excited to get them tomorrow. to actually see and hold our actual invites, this is such a momentous event. i mean, this is it. it's in paper. it's really happening already. waaaaaah! i'm sure i'll get goose bumps tomorrow.
  • pants material for groom and fathers - check! my mom already went to divisoria last thursday and bought the fabrics. she came home with three different kinds of black pants fabric, with the most expensive being schmuck's. it made no difference to me. as far as i'm concerned, they're all black. how different can it be?! haha! so we now have the barong and pants materials. all the boys need to do now is go to their resident tailor to have them done.
  • bridal registry - to be done tomorrow! we're just registering first, but the choosing of the items is done a month before, according to rustan's. that way, the items are current and available. we also get those registry inserts for our invites.
  • wedding rings - to be ordered on friday! we're finally going for tita emily. i also got quotes from matus and tita c, a jeweler at the office. tita c's was too expensive. the matus quote was actually cheaper by a few hundred pesos, but i learned from mye siscar (the wife in the matus hubby-wife tandem) that the total carat weight she gave me was only .35, making tita emily's quote MUCH better talaga. yipeeeee!
  • bridal shoes - to be ordered this friday! aaaah, i am most excited about this one. you know what shoes do to me. i swear, i just turn into jelly. i plan to go to solea this friday to order my custom made shoes. top of mind, i'm thinking silver, strappy, 3-inch heels, beads, and crystals. oooooh! *kilig*
  • hmua - none yet. waaaaaah! i had such a hard time booking a trial appointment with denise go. it's always for confirmation since she has sooo many commercial and magazine shoots. but success comes to those who wait! hee! i managed to book one for this coming saturday at 11am. wish me luck! i really pray that this is it.

whew! hmmm, anything else i'm forgetting?

with the way things are going, we should be finished with all major suppliers this february. that means that in march, we will be concentrating on invites distribution, rsvp, missalette mass production, final fittings, prenups and arrangements with the palms. that also means that by april, we should already be pretty much set. we just turn everything over to our otd coords and wait for the big day to arrive.

OMG.

why The Schmucks?

- We've decided to revolutionize the term. It's now a term of endearment. Before Roland & Tin became "Roland & Tin," we were very good friends with a dysfunctional sense of humor. I called him a schmuck, he called me a schmuck. Thus, The Schmucks were born. Now we're on our way to becoming Mr. & Mrs. Schmuck. Ain't life grand? -
